It’s simple math.

1 < 3 < 5 < 6 < 7.

The 7 really is much more car than the 5. Is it worth the difference in price? That depends on what you’re looking for. If you’re the type of person that would be happy with a 3 series, it isn’t likely to be worth the additional price to you.

I’ve never been a big 7 fan, historically. Recently, though, I’ve started to like them more and more. Partially because I’m getting old, partially because they come with sweet gadgets for me to play with, partially because 7s pay a good portion of my paycheck every week. I definitely see myself picking up a late-model e38 in the not-so-distant future.

I think someone in Germany should get those expenses in check, they are pricing themselves out of business in North America.

Why can’t they sell this car for 60K? why is this car worth so much more than a 5 series anyway ? :)

[...] BMW North America has announced the base prices for the 2009 BMW 7 Series. The short wheelbase 750i will start at $80,300, only $3,700 increase over the previous model. The 750Li has a starting price of $84,200, a $4,100 increase over the older generation 7 Series. The numbers are definitely lower than I expected and this can only please us.
