@Brookside: Brookside, you know I am not always right, so feel free to disagree This makes the blog a more constructive and informative place.

You might be right, historically the price increases were a little smaller here compared to other parts of the world….

And, it will take a while for the Z2, I don’t think it’ll get here before 2012.

@L1ndja: The motor in the 23i is the same motor in the 123i. It is a 2 liter 4 cylinder turbo. They wouldn't put the engine in the 3 series for some reason though.

Horatiu thanks for all the hard work….BMWBlog has become the clearing house for info on all things BMW. Much appreciated.

I’ll disagree a bit with your figures….tho the formulation is accurate I doubt that the extrapolation will apply to the real msrp for the US.

I’m guessing (OK….hoping) we’ll see something more in the range of $4k-5k increase (8-9%) over the current Z4’s. If it turns out that your numbers are accurate then I suspect many will hold out for the Z2.
A 50 grand base Z4 3.0i with 6-speed is just enough beyond my budget that the car becomes more of a fantasy than a reality of seeing this beautiful thing sitting in my driveway.

We’ll probably know before May- but right now I’m doubtful I could manage to swing these numbers in a time of watching my budget and dwindling 401k.

How do those prices compare with the German pricing on Boxsters and Caymans? I have to agree with Artmic that BMW may have lost their minds, unless they’re offering large enough dealer incentives that the street prices will be considerably below the street prices on Porsches and Mercedes.

what motor will the Z4 sDrive 23i use?

If they price the BMW Z4 at the same level as the mercedes then they lost their minds. I think the SLK is way overpriced for a 2 seater.
