		<description>Excuse me, but the best diesel is in the V10 TDI Touareg by VW. I own a 3 series, but KNOW what I used to feel driving and selling VWs yrs back.. TO further the remark, Id still take a Toaureg over an X5 anyday.

Now if we&#039;re talking 3-series and 5&#039;s 7&#039;s vs vs Passat etc obviously there&#039;s no comparison unless we&#039;re talking Phaeton.. but thas my 2 cents</description>

		<description>thanx guys. i appreciate the welcome and i will keep the photo advice in mind. hope you guys did get the links to them. i really enjoyed the cutaway of the N63 showing exactly how they have engineer the exh manifolds, turbines, and compressor into the valley between the vee. the engine looks possibly like a nightmare to work on from a tech point of view. the design is great for temp. control and heat extraction. since the turbines arent shoved down on the undside of each cyl. head and butted up against the strut towers, all that heat energy thats generated to flow the turbine is very easily expelled out of the cowl ducting. there is also some nice duct work from the grilles into the engine bay to help with that flow. now there is no heat soak into the cyl heads from the turbine. kind of surprising no one has engineered something similiat before. 
and if anyone was really wondering, yes i am a certified BMW technician at a well established dealer. i am also ASE certified as well. i do not mind any questions anyone may have. but to let you know there is not always a simple answer but im always up for a brain teaser. i cannot disclose the dealer i work for, for some reason the would rather us not do things like that. i can tell you im based in the philadelphia area. thanks again for the warm welcome.

		<description>Ah yes, a twin turbo V8 for the M5 would be interesting indeed. It would most likely not be the current twin turbo V8 that is currently being produced for a wide range of models. The not quite so new anymore &quot;N63&quot; engine actually debuted in the E71 (X6), and is the engine being used to replace the outgoing N62TU. Meaning while this engine is only currently seeing duty in the E71, over the next few model years (next i believe being the F01), the N63 will see duty in the F01 7serires, E70 X5s, E71 X6s, E63/4 6 series, and anything else BMW has stuffed a V8 into, including the next generation of what would essetnially be replacing the E60 550i., with the exception of the S85 N/A, 8200rpm redline, magnesuiem, direct injected engine powering the current E9x M3&#039;s, the N63 will be &quot;the&quot; V8 for BMW. Only the poorly low side of the BMW scale of customers (E9x 3 series, E83 X3s, E82/88 1 series and the current E85/6 Z4 roadsters and coupes.
The N63 is the first engine world-wide to feature an optimized
package, involving the integration of the turbocharger and the
main near-engine catalytic converters in the “v-space”.
With the aim of achieving the demanding performance objectives
in connection with optimum package and weight, the exhaust
turbochargers and the catalytic converters have been placed in
the v-space between the cylinder banks resulting in the intake and
exhaust ports changing places.
With short pipe lengths and larger cross sections, this arrangement
minimizes the pressure losses on the intake and exhaust
side.

This will be BMW&#039;s go to V8. It illustrates very well BMW&#039;s current direction of its engine philosophy: light weight exotic (aluminum magnesium composite blocks etc.) materials, relatively small displacement for the engine output, and any area were effecientcy can be improved upon from lighter, less rotational mass and inertia to turbo charging (one the most effecient and effective wasy to makes power). And lets not forget the becoming standard of direct injection espcially on forced inducton engines, and the ever present dual vanos variable vale timing. the only current BMW engine innovation not taken advantage of is valvetrontic. The same goes for the N54 in the 335i. The efficentcy for a modern engineered BMW turbo engine has no need for this feature. Thats another story. 
Well these are just some thoughts from BMW atuomotive technicians who will be working on all your knew cars....eventrually. Personally im very excited to be working with such highly engineered machinery. That fuels my passion for BMW.

		<description>If a turbo&#039;d V8 saves more weight in the M5 compared to the V10 then I&#039;m all for it. I do like that the current V10 was Formula One-derived but I&#039;m not sure the E60 M5 will go down as a classic like the E39 was.</description>

		<description>i&#039;m sure the 5 series will be a great car and a good improvement from what the current 5 series is. I definitely like that they are using the F01 chassis because the actual room inside the current 5 series compared to the 3 series isn&#039;t much bigger. I am disappointed that they&#039;re going to a V8 instead of keeping that V10. IMO that was one of the BEST V10 engines around and I&#039;m pretty sure a lot of enthusiasts will be hunting them down.</description>
