^^^I'm almost positive Audi chose the softop because of weight. Since those cars are equipped with the incredible quattro drive system, adding more weight to the roof would be preposterous.

What's so special about this car? The A5/S5 is getting extremely boring. The soft top is just outdated in this segment. Yes it is OK is smaller cars like the 1 an A3, but for the 3 and A5, I expect a hard top.

You guys know why they didn't make a hard top? Development costs woul be too high for the the VW Group to have the A5/S5 convertible as hard top. So that's why theystuck to soft top. I can just imagine the inferior driving dynamics compared to BMW.

When I buy a car, I want superb handling, state of the art technology and to me, soft top is so yesterday and I will definately not support a product that's produced like that to save costs.

Audi nice car, under powered engine same price as BMW, no comparison, the design of the a5/s5 is nice but it just does not hit the spot for me.

@clara: I think it's going to be pretty expensive, especially the S5. And yes, the 2.0 liter engine, good choice by Audi, and trust me, we'll see the BMW's 4 cylinder here soon also.

@Gragop:
You mean $10k more than the M3?

I'll say one thing about the 2.0T --- it's very light and the weight distribution is far better than with the V8 or V6.

As usuall, both cars look great. Why? Well... because its Audi and Audi makes better looking cars than BMW. Now would I buy theese two, well... no, why? simply because Im not a fan of convertibles, mainly because your head becomes a bathroom for the birds!

So is the S5 going to cost $10K more than it's BMW counterpart and then the underpowered A5 going to cost the same as the BMW car it doesn't compete with in terms of horsepower?
