In a latest development, a BMW spokesperson stated that the BMW is not considering Mini E as production cars. “As the rear seats and cargo carrying space are lost [because of the battery pack], the MINI is not a candidate for mass production”.
Despite the positive reviews the Mini E has received, the cars are being used for testing purposes only and 450 out of the 500 unites being leased to the US customers, will make their way back to Germany. BMW will use the customer’s feedback along with the computer logs to further improve the electric technology.

As we mentioned a few days ago, BMW is looking to reveal a 1 Series electric model at the Geneva Show next year. Also, according to Autoexpress, quoting the same BMW spokesperson, the new electric system will also find its way in the 3 Series and possible the smaller SUVs.
I personally believe that all of these are still speculations at this point and that BMW’s plans might change in the near future, based on the economy situation and further developments.
