The 135is mentioned is more than likely just the same as the current 135i w/ECU modified boost levels. For less than $500 you can make a current 135i push roughly the same amount of HP.

@L1ndja: They probably aren't doing much exhaust tuning on the 4s, that's probably reserved for higher-performance engines on higher-priced cars, meaning the 6 and v8. There are some great-sounding 4 cylinder engines out there... the lotus elise (or current version) and the honda s2000 come to mind.

@Lance: In the past that's more or less been the reasoing behind no lower displacement/cylinder engined BMW's in the US. Mainly cars like the 318ti that flopped here made the case for no longer bringing 4 cylinders to the US market. That said, with the introduction of the 335d and a changing world market we may begin to see these cars in the US.

why just Europe? Do they think the lower engine lineup is damaging BMW’s image in the US? Becasue I think there’ll be lots of demand for them Stupid choice BMW!

Well the golden era of the cars has now past we will never see again motors like a straight six.We will only see 1.0-2.0 turbo engines that SUCK i really dislike these motors i own an 320i e46 it is for me one of the best cars in the world it has the reall Sound of an straight six im so disappointed when i compare it to the 320i e90 wich has only 4 cylinders and the sound just sucks..what next ??? 320i with 1.6 Turbo omg.I hate how the world is changing

The lineup is in fact speculation from the usually well informed carmagazine AutoBild, and the 1.3 is not a type error, but exactly what they wrote in their magazine.

I think that there is a type error: 1.6 lt not 1.3 lt. Also, I think that the 1.6 lt can easily produce 150 bhp since the 1.6 lt found in the Mini Cooper S and PSA Group reaches 180bhp.

Interesting line up. Also, if I were a betting man I’d say that it gives insight to the engine line up of the next 3 Series with the 3.0L 272HP engine and 326HP turbo’d I6 engine.
