@Horatiu B.: “The large battery weighing around 573 pounds is placed in the back seat, making the Mini E a two people car. The li-ion battery outputs 204 horsepower with a torque of 162 lb-ft. It runs from 0-60 mph in 8.5 seconds, reaching a top speed of 95 mph.”

that's interesting- the battery is much heavier than the 4-cylinder engine would be. They must mean that the battery+motor weighs 573 pounds, but replaces the engine, transmission (hence the 95mph limit) and gas tank. Did they give a total weight for the e car?

It also doesn't hurt that the weight is now in the rear of the car. Is this now rear-drive, as well? Or is the battery in the back and electric motor in the front, driving the front wheels?

@Horatiu B.:

For the 2010 season - I hope it does. Eccelstone is nuts for having no French or US Grand Prix. Next season will already have about 17 or so tracks. I'd love to know how they can schedule more races in!

@Horatiu B.: aside from the top speed the stats aren't terrible. No worse than a lot of 4 cylinder engines sold in Europe.

this is an interesting proposition as it'll be the first "drivable" electric car that could have appeal to enthusiasts. I'd love to try one out myself.
