It's cheap transportation. I don't mind the thought of a diesel Bimmer at all. I love the torque of diesels. But being that we're talking about a $40k+ car, it's not exactly targetted towards the demographic I would consider <i>needy</i> of a fuel-efficient car. The Smart is dirt cheap; the 335d... not so much. ~$12k vs. $40k+? The Fusion and Vues are 4000lb+ bags of feces on wheels.
