What do you think of the BMW 335i competitor? Share thoughts, please don’t be too nasty towards Audi, this is an amazing car.
Even though many people compare the S4 to an M3, I still believe that it’s a fair comparison. The new M3 is by far a more advanced car and unfortunately, S4 doesn’t match it yet.

I haven’t gotten a chance to view this yet – but I do wonder why people continue to compare the M3 and the S4. The M3 seems better suited to fight the RS4 and it’s V8 compared to the S4’s turbo-V6.
Maybe it doesn’t matter though.
@Gragop: Cause we’re weird like that
Yes, Audi is positioning the new S4 right at the 335i, not the M3. The coming RS4 should fit that bill nicely!
@Horatiu B.: haha good enough for me. I’ve seen a few websites also compare the S5 to the M3 Coupe as well. I guess it doesn’t matter as both have evolved more into small GT cars compared to balls-out sportscars.
I compare the S4 to a BMW 335… both have similar HP/Power etc…
The only thing i want to say, audi can go to hell, the price should be similar to the 335 coupe for the S4… otherwise the consumer is overpaying for their 4 wheel drive choo choo train…
@Mark Atkinson: Absolutely, the RS4 is definitely closer to the M3 and they could certainly go head-to-head.
@Gragop:
Wait till you see the next comparison
My personal take on this. The engine noise is nice for a V6, the interior is way more sporty than any Bangled BMW, the overall design is more elegant and makes more sense than the E90.
The 6spd manual is a proper tranny for a car like that (unlike the non-sense 7 and 8 autos of the Mercs C63 and Lexus IS-F) and Audi’s Tranny/clutch are more civilized (smoother) than BMW’s . BMW still wins in car-driver feedback and fun.
Regardless of the badge, I think BMW has a very good competitor here and should be alarmed that they can’t depend on the name to keep selling their cars forever.
@Auday: well i do think that just the BMW name will sell because well BMW just blows Merc away and well Audi ever since VW bought out lambo is doing pretty good, Audi is closing the gap between Mercedes and BMW and i think Audi is going to be right below BMW not above it or next to it but right under it they have improved a lot but stilllllllll not as good as the “Ultimate Driving Machine” BMW ///M POWER for life.
S4: VW quality, poor reliability, poor handling, idiotic 4X4 style, extremely boring exterior, ugly front with that open fish mouth grille, boring interior, cheap plastics used in interior (especially around the doors and centre console behind the gearlever). The S4 is just not an attractive car. Inferior in so many aspects. Handling isn’t even as good as the normal 3 Series, let alone the normal 1 Series, which costs less than half this rubbish. As for performance, fuel thursty and the figures on paper just is not convincing although power is high. You can put a rocket engine in any car but what’s the fun if it is not economical and the car cannot handle it. Never compare a VW product to BMW. it’s not the same class.
I do like the yellow. Best taxi ever…
