BMW Trademark Filings

Back in July, I started a trend where I would post information regarding the latest BMW trademark filling. At that time, we were excited to announce that BMW has succesfully registered the X5M and X6M names. 

For the past few months, I was trying to get more info on BMW’s plans to register more trademarks, so I have been reaching out to our friends close to BMW. In the same time, Germancarzone has a great forum thread that tracks and monitors the latest fillings. 

So, here is what we know so far, but keep in mind, not all the registered names will be used by BMW in the future, so speculate at your own risk.

    It is about time Bmw makes now a car that would go 600hp+ i hope they will make a M9-10 with at least 650hp so it can kill the likes of SLR etc..i hope they will revive the 8series with 2 doors that could close the deal

    What I want is a <1600kg car with 400hp. 600hp are useless until u can’t use them on the road. Look at subaru, 300hp and it’s fast like car with more and more hp… that’s the bmw I want.

    They better cut the bullshit and come with a real M3 that will rival the alikes of gt3rs and the new gtr. I think the world has enough of Stupid Useless Vehicles and cell-phone driving soccer moms that outrun redlights

    oh, and while they are at it, better also but the crap about releasing 3ton 700hp vehicles with 5 traction control “aids” to keep the wannabe autobox racers out of the street….

    eDrive – I can imagine either electric or efficient
    hDrive – is clearly Hybrid

    BUT what is the sDrive???

    and I always thought the SAS was either a british special military unit or the Scandinavian Airlines, if its something BMW related what does it stand
    for??

    The sDrive will be used for the Z4 models. Not sure what exactly stands for, but my guess is Sport Drive, maybe?!

    My guess is it will be a Z4 term denoting “Sport drive” due to the required new terminology on car models. My guess is that it will substitute the Z4 3.0Si nameplate that we have now.

    I must admit 3.0Si sounds much better than 3.0 sDrive but I know BMW has little choice in the matter.

    Off the top of my head I can’t remember the specifics but I thought the U.S. gov’t required that an appropriate nomenclature for names of cars?
