@Erik: Not quite. You still have to make payments on that loan. After year 1, you're going to only have $40k left sitting in the bank earning interest; after year 2, less than $30K sitting in the bank earning interest. Oh and btw, good luck getting 5% on a cd these days. Definitely not a 5 figure "profit". More like a 4 figure profit. Don't forget to discount those cash flows man!

The 0.9% financing is the deal maker. If you are a cash buyer normally, make your deal and then opt for the 60 month financing for the whole cost. Put the $50 large into a 5% CD for 5 years. You will have a five figure "profit" of interest earned over interest paid at the end of the term.

Just ordered a 2009 335i with xdrive (trading in my 2001 325xi). Both cars had/will have premium, sport, upgraded stereo, etc.

Trade-in on my car was more than Kelly Blue book...cuz' I'm anal about keeping my car clean and in shape : )

I got a few more buzzers and whistles in the new car and for the first time in my life I'm buying a car over $50k. I loved reading your post Mike. It made me feel better about this price...

But, with the great trade-in and YES, .09 % financing on a new 2009...it's a bargain. I was even able to negotiate some extras like free floor mats, wheel locks, and another $1000 off the price. I'm getting a whole lot more car for less...

Even BMW is not immune to the slump in car sales during this economic climate. Great deals can be had!

To buy a 335i in Australia will cost you over $120,000. Cars in America are so cheap, compared to Australia. So stop your complaining ;)

Well - not that Audi is offering a 2.0T engine at $40K - a twin turboed BMW 6 cylinder for $10K more seems like a deal.

It is funny though, that when my dad bought his 540i (with every option except navigation) in 1999, he paid somewhere around 53k for it. The thought that it costs that much to get in a *3 series* now is a bit scary.

But I do believe you can buy a basic 525i for that money too, if you don't mind living without a few options here and there.

No post on a BMW blog should *ever* contain the words "worth it" combined with a questionmark.
BMWs have never been cheap and so they must remain.

I think Americans shouldn't complain about the car prices. I went to www.bmw.nl en configured the same car. Result is that we should pay a whopping 73,500 EURO to drive the car in Holland. What about that

What about the weaker dollar? I bet if you look at exchange rates, it is cheaper now.
