BMW X1: More Renderings

So, let’s give this another try, let’s see if these renderings will be wider accepted by the bimmer fans. Just two days ago, we posted a BMW X1 CGI created by the german fellows at Autobild, and the article created some interesting discussions.

Our dear reader Jeff sent us some new renderings by the guys from MotorAuthority and it will be interesting to see the reaction those will create. As a personal opinion, I do find the these new renderings more appealing, but I still doubt that this will be the actual size of the car, to me it seems way too bigger than what the X1 should be, otherwise, the fine line between the X1 and X3 will be even narrower.

I am so glad than in a month, we will see the real deal and then we can move onto the BMW Progressive Activity Sedan speculations

I think the X3 should be what the X1 is trying to be. I foresee “canibalization” between the two models. BMWs management seems greedy in overflowing the market with too many redundant models. Oh well, who am I to tell them what to do, and why do I care anyways….besides that I want them around producing good cars.

This looks like an X6 , just smaller, so I like it The other rendering had nothing to do with a bmw except for the kidneys!

Yep, this is bang on. Thanks for posting. I was being a little sarcastic, but I think this post should really get people closer to what is actually going to be presented in a week. As far as I can tell from an earlier analysis of spy photos, the wheelbase of the X1 and X3 are nearly identical.

I feel like the X3 is going to need to grow to be able to differentiate the two. I think realistically it will. I also think that given the X6 is priced higher than the X5 and pitched to be sportier, the X1 should be as well. However, we know this not to be true. What that means is the real area where you will see the greatest difference in features is going to be the interiors. The X1 will be narrower and feature the integrated into the top part of the dash nav screen as seen in the new 1-series…for proof just check out the latest spy pics of the open interior, you can make out the lines of the dash and the air vents where a screen would be if it was integrated a la X5/X6/7-series (the new direction instead of double bubble dash being an integrated screen into the top portion of the dash swoop).

Sooooo, X1 = legitimately sexy SAV, priced right, light, good on fuel, hopefully in dual mode hybrid before 2011-2012, and basically a better X6. With tii upgrade packages, this baby could really look good.

For all those out there saying “I’d rather have a 3-series touring,” you’re lame. No matter how you slice it in the US, wagons are for middle aged middle management and their wives. This car projects youth, through its chunky styling, giant wheels/wheel wells, and high position. I predict it will be the best selling BMW for quite some time to come.

Sorry guys but are you sure the X1 will look like that? Based on the articles we have read in the past this rendering is more closer to the future X4 than the X1. Rumours said that the X4 will be based on the X6 idea. If we believe that the X1 will look like that, then I am sorry to say that it looks nothing like the camouflage pictures we have seen in Munich.

@George: I agree 100%, I’ve heard that the X1 will be much closer to a 3 series wagon with a taller ride, rather than a smaller X1. I think George is right, the X4 will get the X6ish look.

We all know the actual car will look nothing like these -or any other cg attemts. Why are we having this debate then?

@Giom: Just to see what people expect. I do believe the X1 will be closer to a touring, rather than an X coupe style.
