It's not my choice, nor will I have the ability to wait until March for an X5 with the new iDrive. I need a car. I've never owned a BMW and I've never seen a mid-year replacement system so significant by Lexus or another company. If the new iDrive doesn't come out in the first production run from BMW (October 2008), I really don't want to be kicking myself, I'd rather go with another car. It's a shame, but think about those that would purchase a 1st run versus the 2nd run for 09's. BMW would have been better off delaying the 2009 X5 until march 2009 completely. I can´t provide 0-100 times for it of course but it not was quick but it also multitasked very well (we didn´t see any speed degradation whilst we were burning a CD onto the hard drive for example). I'm "currently" in a Lexus GS AWD and am having trouble finding anything that excites me. The old iDrive bothers me, but the X5 is nice. I just plainly can't wait more than 30 or so days, so if it's not cmming in the first shipment, I'm out of this car. I assume they can't be retrofit? That stinks.
