Once again our friend Rich from AutomotiveTraveler came through for us and decided to offer you, our dear readers, some new photos of the BMW X6 Hybrid version. Yesterday, a different test mule was spotted again in the Mojave Desert, so the sooner we approach the launch date, the more photos should become available.
We stated yesterday that the BMW X6 is the first hybrid based bimmer and it will go on sale in Europe in 2009. The newer, greener X6 will utilize the previously outlined dual-mode ActiveHybrid system, which has discrete modes for high-torque, low speed driving as well as for high-speed cruises. The system uses a modular hybrid system which can be adapted to many different engine/vehicle combination, as opposed to a design-specific petrol engine/hybrid combination, which sees wider use in the automotive industry.
Seeing the latest photos these past days, the X6 really grew on me and if the fuel economy will exceed my expectations while keeping the performance levels high, then BMW might have a new buyer here.
Thanks again for the photos Rich!
