There might be a lightweight-3-series with less power. But an M3 CSL is very expensive to construct, it should be faster than it's predecessor which is a very high goal, and there only few people out there willing to spend more than 100.000 €uros for a BMW 3-series. For that kind of money you can get a Porsche GT3 as well... So BMW can not produce such a car if they want to make money with it. And since BMW is very ungenerous concerning such projects...
