BMW is preparing the next-generation of its 5-Series for launch in 2010 — 2009 for the European market and Motor Authority managed to get some spy photos. When the new 5-Series finally arrives — likely in 2010 — it will be available with the same 400hp twin-turbo V8 found in the X6, which would put it close to the current BMW M5.
It’s also rumored the 6 cylinder version of the 5 series will keep the twin turbo engine used in the 535i model. The next-generation 5-series is expected to feature an eight-speed automatic transmission with an all-wheel drive option being available. Also notice the quad-exhaust which really shows this 5 series means business and will most likely have current M5 performance speeds.
