A good day here at BMWBlog, we have just posted an article on the upcoming BMW 3 Series Sedan Facelift and now…for our dear bimmer fans, we have some new photos of the 2009 BMW 7 Series, including the F01 version as well.
As we mentioned earlier, the photos were taken by our friend Hans over at Autoholic.de and the 7er spotted here is a little more revealing than the photos we posted recently.
This has to be the first spy photo where we can clearly see the trunk lid unmasked, and it looks quite sexy, I must add.
In the photos showing the F01 version of the 7 Series, there is something really interesting going on. We have been zooming in and out trying to figure out what BMW placed on the rooftop of this test mule, but no luck yet. Any ideas?

1Maybe they are testing some solar panels like the ones shown on an X5 Efficient Dynamics Concept some time ago and this thing is to avoid public interest

2It must be fun to live in München and always have the chance to see the new BMW test cars on the streets!!!!
Funny thing is, with the new numbering systems (F01, F10 etc) replacing the standard E30, E60 etc, everybody will now have to relearn the NEW system and I am sure that even the most knowledgeable BMW aficionado will have to take the time to learn it..

3Horatiu, what really boggles me is to see some heavy disguised cars again. Only the car on the last pic, the one from the rear, is slightly disguised (like the latest batch of spy pics), but the top ones are like the ones we’ve been seeing for months now.
You think they might have changed the front bumper after the leak on the internet?

4I bet those things on the roof are to cover up a full length sunroof or a panarama moon roof as in the S-Class.

5The only function i see in those roof panels is weight. Maybe they are comparing peformance with a carbon fiber roof??

6@Giom: These cars often drive with disguise, even after official pictures are published. The reason is simple: This disguise-material is glued to the car very solid. It is heavy work to undisguise the car. And thats why they often drive around with camouflage no longer needed.
@iDoode: Definitely not. A carbon fibre roof is expensive and the 7-series is not about laptimes! Maybe this could save some 5-10kg, but no one will ever care, since the 7 will still be above 2000kg with some options I guess. Sunroof or something similar might be, but definitely not a carbon-fiber-roof.

7Saw today a white one, and it was heading towards Nurnburg.
No disguise much, the same on the boot as the one in the photo, black tape on the sides and the same pattern on the bonnet. What i saw inside as passed it and followed it was the inside was not hidden, seemed complete and had the navi all working.
My guess was heading to a dealer to have a look maybe? Trade license plate was on DGF 06305 seats had clear plastic over them, and the exhausts were shiny silver colour
