Today BMW published some pictures of the BMW GINA concept we talked about some days ago.
Sadly it looks like many people, including us, had too high hopes after the video published by BMW. The GINA concept is in fact some years old, older than the current Z4 (according to the German car-magazine auto-motor-und-sport)! There are no technical facts known, except that it features an aluminum chassis, not a single word about the engine or the drivetrain. The special thing about GINA are the surfaces. They are not made out of steel or aluminum, instead a high-tech-textile is used that can be formed in multiple ways. So the exterior look depends on many factors, for example if the headlights are turned on or off or if the rear spoiler is used or not.
Since there is no production planned, as far as we can see today, I will just give you the pictures and you can judge for yourself. But maybe it is meant to give us some ideas concerning the looks of the next-generation Z4? Design-elements might be used, but we can say for sure that the hightech-textile won't be used on a production car soon.

I’m sorry, it is a beautiful car and awesome concepts but I honestly doubt I could drive that car with a straight face knowing that the hood opens like a vagina. I can hear it now…there goes the vagina mobile!
As a popular thesis say, a car of every man is his certain body parts extension…. maybe this is a particualr extension of woman for a difference?
And -as I’m a woman- I would drive my Gina with greatest pleasure!

@Giom: Seriously? This is your yardstick for measuring greatness? I once had an idea about powering my car using caffeine-doped hamsters. Everyone I know had a good laugh and ‘rediculed’ (your spelling not mine) the idea. I’m sure I’ll be vindicated any day.
I have a huge problem with any design idea coming under Bangle’s auspices. The man has single handedly managed to alienate thousands of BMW fans (myself included – my E34 535i still beats the awkward E60 in the looks department). There’s a reason Audi is now ahead of BMW in the corporate sedan sales.

Auto/ Stilista denuncia Bmw: mi ha copiato. Indaga procura Roma

La Bmw ‘Gina’ è stata premiata come concept car, ma l’idea del rivestimento in stoffa della carrozzeria, sarebbe una idea copiata ad un italiano. E’ questo il contenuto di una denuncia-querela presentata dallo stilista di moda Giuseppe Bianco, titolare di diversi marchi di moda giovane, e che è stata depositata nei giorni scorsi alla Procura di Roma. Secondo quanto si è appreso il pm Marcello Monteleone sta vagliando l’atto presentato dall’avvocato Carlo Cirillo, in cui sono ipotizzati i reati di contraffazione, secondo gli articoli 473 e 474 del codice penale e in base a quanto previsto dal cosiddetto ‘codice della proprietà industriale’, definito dal decreto legge del 10 febbraio 2005, numero 30, articolo 127. In particolare, secondo l’esposto, Bianco, nel 2005 ha ideato un esclusivo procedimento con il quale si poteva applicare qualsiasi rivestimento, dalla pelle, alla stoffa, ai materiali più tecnici, sulla carrozzeria esterna di auto e motoveicoli “rendendo i rivestimenti stessi impermeabili e resistenti agli agenti atmosferici”. Dopo la registrazione del brevetto, l’esposizione al Motorshow di Bologna nel 2006, un servizio televisivo del Tg5, Bianco era tranquillo, sicuro di aver inventato qualcosa d’innovativo. Ma ecco che in pieno 2008 scopre che la Bmw ha presentato una concept car rivestita di tessuto, la Gina, acronimo di ‘Geometry and functions in ‘n’ adaptions’. E così a Bianco non è restato altro che cercare di far valere i suoi diritti. La battaglia tra il piccolo inventore di casa nostra e il colosso teutonico comincia nell’agosto scorso, quando l’avvocato Carlo Cirillo comunica alla sede legale della Bmw che il suo cliente è “titolare dei diritti nascenti dal deposito di regolare domanda di registrazione per il rivestimento di autovetture” e diffida l’azienda tedesca “a cessare qualunque attività in contrasto con essi”. Dopo ulteriori contatti tra il penalista romano e i consulenti legali responsabili dell’ufficio brevetti della Bmw, e malgrado fosse stata proposta tutta la documentazione a favore di Bianco, la Gina veniva esposta al museo di Monaco e dall’11 al 15 febbraio scorso al Salon Concept Car Hotel National des Invalides Plauce Vebaun, a Parigi. E in quell’occasione, testimoniano le cronache, che all’ombra della torre Eiffel, la Gina ha ottenuto il premio ‘Grand prix du plus beau concept car de l’annèe 2008′. Bianco però non ci sta. Realizza un video di denuncia e lo pubblica su Youtube. Il procedimento di lavorazione sulle auto e di applicazione dei materiali così come visibile sul sito carbodydesign, fonte Bmw press, è tale e quale a quello ideato da lui. Nella denuncia lo stilista romano ricorda anche la visita di un dirigente della Bmw al suo stand nel Motorshow. Gli avvocati Cirillo e Pamela Baglivo, che con la collaborazione di Micol Cupo Pagano, hanno presentato la denuncia, spiegano: “Il nostro assistito spera che si faccia luce sulla vicenda”. L’avvocato Cirillo aggiunge: “E’ evidente che se l’autorità giudiziaria ravvisasse la violazione del diritto di privativa del signor Bianco, saremmo di fronte a un danno di enorme entità, considerata anche la potenzialità della diffusione telematica attraverso la quale tale condotta si è realizzata. Auspico pertanto che possa attuarsi la tutela della parte offesa, piccolo imprenditore, rispetto ad una società multinazionale dotata di ingenti risorse economiche”.
