Greg,

The auto-manual in the 135i is quite a bit different from the SMG transmission in the M3, M5 and the M6.

The SMG is a "Sequential Manual Gearbox" that runs similarly to a manual with no clutch pedal and paddles instead of a shifter (you can still use the shifter to shift though). The automated-manual in the regular BMW's is simply an automatic with paddles attached to the gearbox.

With that said, the new 135i automatic shifts lightning quick, and responds very well to your actions. I would still prefer a manual over an automatic any day, but this automatic is without a doubt, one of the best in the world. You will love it!

If you have any more questions, feel free to shoot me an e-mail at josh@bmwblog.com.

Hahaha I know... I watched the video this morning and was like OH MY GOD!!!

I have an analysis of OCD, so my mind is always working overtime. While I'm talking the rest of me gets bored. Sorry for the clicking noise. It was quite annoying to me too when I watched it.
