Back in March, BMW announced their plan to increase the production at their Spartanburg factory in South Carolina. The U.S plant plays an important role in the global sales and it accounts for about 22 percent of BMW's overall sales. Over the next years, the Munich based automaker is looking to increase its purchases of parts and components from U.S based companies.
Probably the main reason for this is the continue decline of our U.S dollar versus the Euro. The continue depreciation of our dollar is not necessary always a bad thing. In this case, the Euro vs Dollar affects both continents. The rising Euro makes BMW spend more money in Europe, but in the same time, it helps the export growth in the States.
Mr. Michael Ganal, the BMW CFO, has told WirtschaftsWoche magazine that the german automaker is looking at the possibility of increasing the production past the 240,000 bimmers manufactured at Spartanburg.
Bringing back the X3 manufacturing process to the U.S shores, will definitely help them achieve that.
