Mike, I actually heard that sometimes last year and this year as well. It came from a couple of different people. Remember, it wasn’t set in stone, but that was the general consensus. Things might change, we all know that BMW does change things.
I just went and read the topic on Xbimmers, and he seems to be on the right track as well. Bu we’ll see.

Your source and a post on Xbimmers sound very similar. You must have the same contact at BMWAG/M as that poster. I hope they do not make an M X
