Green concepts! A phrase that you will be seeing a lot in the next few years. Everyone in the car industry seems to be moving towards hybrid cars eventually, and of course BMW is going in the same direction as well.
At the Geneva Auto Show, the german luxury automaker will be showing off its Vision EfficientDynamics Concept, a BMW X5 hybrid, that will be powered by a twin-turbo, 2.0-liter four-cylinder diesel that's mated to a hybrid motor. The diesel engine produces 204 hp and 295 lb.-ft. of torque, but the addition of a compact generator increases power by another 20 hp and 154 lb.-ft. of torque. Power is sent through an eight-speed gearbox developed.
When it comes to consumption, BMW says that the X5 diesel hybrid's mpg will be around 43.5, with only 172 g/km of CO2 being "let" out in the atmosphere.
All I can say is that living in the Chicago Metro area, I can feel the air pollution every time I step out of the house, so therefore, I'm a big fan of the hybrid concepts that hopefully will make their way into production. Cameron Diaz seems to be thinking the same way since she decided to roll out at the Oscars in a 7-series Hydrogen.
