Before going to the show, I kept hearing everyone talking about the R8, R8 and R8 again. I guess the SuperBowl commercial really worked. 2.7 million dollars later, and everyone knows what the R8 is. Even the guys at the Audi stand are expecting a huge crowd tomorrow when the Chicago Auto Show opens its door.
I've seen the car being displayed at auto shows before, and I agree, the car is absolutely gorgeous. Definitely an innovative product made by Audi and the fact that they will produce only a few hundred of them in 2008, it turned into the most wanted car of this year. All the dealerships around the country have long wait lists for the R8 and apparently even Hollywood actors are drooling over it. Starting price: $109,000, fully loaded, somewhere around $130,000.
I won't get into the technical details, you can always read this great article on autoblog.com but I want to point out that the 2008 models will get the new V10 engines with 520HP.
