The latest rumor is that BMW is thinking about dropping their not-so-great iDrive system. As many of you might know, the i-Drive reviews over the past years have been terrible for the german automaker, so it's not a surprise that they are looking at the possibility of replacing it.
Also, when you hear that BMW is working together with Apple, then the rumor changes into a possibility. It is known that BMW and Steve Job's fancy company have already worked together on the first fully functional integration between the iPhone and the iDrive system.
Not many details are known at this time but I expect major website like gizmodo and engadget to give us more insight soon.

This would be interesting as long as one does not need to buy an iPhone. I have two friend who have now dumped their own iPhones due to poor performance and totally abysmal battery performance…
If this indeed comes to pass and we can still have a top notch navigation system and good and plan Bluetooth capabilities, then I see no issues with dropping iDrive..
My $.02 worth…
Cheers,
I have lived thru 6 years now of idrive bashing and quite frankly I dont get it the first couple of years were a bit cumbersome if no one showed you but since then it’s pretty much idiot proof (sorry magazine editors) but if you cannot operate and navigate your way through the current idrive, drive a KIA It’s just a mouse for the computer get over it… Ed
