I love BMW diesels. I had one of their early examples in 1985. It was a 524td. It was only 2.4 liters but it had lots of torque. It also powered a small 22 foot RV and would push it over 100 mph! I had over 370,000 miles on it before I retired it for the transmission was going bad on it. The evelution of BMW diesels are far better now and I would love to have another. I own a 7 series now but would be glad to own a smaller BMW with a diesel engine in it…

Okay – you’re bringing in a big, powerful 3.5 liter twin-turbo diesel in a 5 series or bigger!
But in this high fuel cost awareness market – why not offer your new 2 liter twin-turbo – that was voted “Engine of the Year”?
BMW seems to be appealing to the “more power is better” U.S. “Hummer” mentality?
Why in heaven’s name don’t you offer this, award-winning high torque, fuel efficient 2 l. diesel in the 3 series to go head-to-head with gas engine “hybrids”?
In my opinion, BMW is missing a golden opportunity to be ahead of the pack and exploit this remarkable 2 l. engine.

…. people people…. don’t you get it… diesels are all about the torque….
wait for the m diesel… ( oh it’s definitely coming) it would have 8 gears and a 5000rpm rev limit…. and a 200mph top speed… and did i mention its a 7 series sedan…
